Thanksgiving is upon us, and traveling is at the top of so many Americans’ minds. You’ve booked your travel, found accommodations, and planned your packing list. You’re ready for the trip to your destination, but when happens when you get there?
Whether you’re heading to Santa Monica to visit loved ones or for a fun getaway this Thanksgiving, there’s plenty of entertainment to be had. If you have some gaps in your itinerary, check out these top things to do in Santa Monica.
Things To Do In Santa Monica This Thanksgiving Season
There’s only so much time a person can spend eating turkey and pumpkin pie. If you’re looking for some other entertainment options, these ideas are sure to deliver.
1. Slice Some Ice
One of the most beloved traditions for the locals is ICE at Santa Monica. We might not have much winter weather, but this seasonal event converts downtown Santa Monica into a whimsical ice skating rink.
What better way to get yourself into the holiday spirit than with ice skating with the family? The rink is already open for the year, and it will stay open until January 21st, 2019. If you’re not a frequent flyer in Santa Monica, this could be your only opportunity to partake in our fun tradition.
2. Bond On The Boardwalk
This might not be exclusive to the Thanksgiving season, but it’s always a local favorite. After you indulge in a great dinner, head out to the Santa Monica boardwalk.
The boardwalk is home to plenty of local businesses (including yours truly) so it’s a great way to get to know the town. Plus, what better way to burn off some of that cranberry sauce than with a relaxing stroll?
3. Embrace The Marine Life
As idyllic as it often is in Santa Monica, we have rainy days like every other town does. If the weather doesn’t live up to your hopes during your trip or if you don’t love the great outdoors, there’s no need to stay inside and resign yourself to a marathon checkers tournament.
Instead, head over to the Santa Monica Pier Aquarium. It’s a great way for you to get to know the marine life that’s so instrumental to our town. For some extra perks, plan your visit around a feeding session or any other aquarium events.
4. Shop Until You Drop
Of course, we can’t talk about entertainment around the Thanksgiving holiday without mentioning shopping. Whether you’re a bargain-hunter or you love a great splurge, there’s shopping for every budget.
If you’re a fan of conventional shopping, Santa Monica Place is a great place to start. Another option, though, is to get to know our town better by supporting local retailers instead.
A Visit You Can Be Thankful For
For every vacation you take, you get out of it what you put into it. The more time you spend planning your trip and learning about the local attractions, the more it can pay off in memories. This list of things to do in Santa Monica can make that a bit easier this Thanksgiving.
