Hunting for some fun activities on the Santa Monica Pier for the whole family?

No matter what time of year, the Santa Monica Pier is a hub for family fun. Toddlers, teenagers, and all ages in between (plus parents!) can enjoy fun adventures on the Pier with a whole host of activities available. The hardest part will be deciding where to spend your time.

On your next day off together, check out these spots on the Pier for fun activities for the whole family.

Pacific Park

Pacific Park is one of the most popular family destinations on the Santa Monica Pier. This amusement park is a thrilling adventure for the whole family, and there are rides for everyone to go on. There are a total of 12 rides, which includes the famous solar-powered Pacific Wheel. Plus, enjoy lots of shopping, games, and entertainment of all kinds throughout the park.

Playland Arcade

Does your family love gaming? The Playland Arcade is your spot. There are over 200 games to try out and enjoy at the Playland Arcade on the Pier. Whether you enjoy classic games or the latest trending games, you’ll find what you and your family members will love at Playland Arcade — and they won’t want to leave. At the end of your arcade adventure, be sure to cash in your winnings for fun prizes.

Fishing Platform

Beyond games and rides, the Santa Monica Pier is a great place to catch fish. The fishing platform is in its own spot at the end of the Pier. Young people and old people love to watch the views and wait for the big catch. There are so many different types of fish you can catch — seaperch, sargo, bass, lizardfish, and more. Whether the weather is sunny or overcast, it’s always a great time to enjoy the fishing platform at the Pier with the family.

Santa Monica Pier Museum

Want to hit up an educational activity for the whole family? The Santa Monica Pier Museum is a great place to be. There are lots of different experiences to be had and enjoyed by the whole family. The experiences change depending on the time of year, so be sure to check out the latest feature for a look into history.

When you’re headed to the Pier, it’s hard to miss the historic Looff Hippodrome Carousel. The Hippodrome was built in 1916 by Charles I.D. Looff, and the carousel was built a few years later. The Looff Hippodrome Carousel remains one of the most popular spots on the Pier for people of all ages.

It features wooden animals to ride on, which includes horses, a rabbit, sleighs, and a goat. At only a few bucks per person, this is a fun experience with a deeply rooted Santa Monica history that can’t be missed.

Heal The Bay Aquarium

Do you and your family love fish? There are amazing sights to see at the Heal the Bay Aquarium. Heal the Bay’s mission is to protect over 100 local animals, and your family can come to experience hands-on fun, educational programs, and immersive visual experiences. There are many different events and activities to check out, and kids 12 and under are free!
