The summer is quickly coming to an end – soon school’s will be back in session and the sun will set earlier, leaving us dreaming of those long summer days again.

But before we get ahead of ourselves, we are going to enjoy the end of summer and all it has to offer. Santa Monica continues to host lively events, bringing the community and visiting tourists together to enjoy good food, fun music, and a relaxing atmosphere.

Check out these 4 events in Santa Monica you won’t want to miss!

1. Off-Season Beach Escapes

The Fall Equinox officially begins on September 22nd this year, which means vacationers and tourists will head back home and the beaches enter their “off-season”. Despite the summer season ending, Santa Monica stays warm and sunny into November.

This makes it the perfect time to visit their sandy beaches to watch the beautiful sunsets that line the sky. Stick around on Friday evenings for an outdoor movie hosted by the Santa Monica Pier.

2. Off the Hook: Seafood Festival

For those still in the area or who live in Santa Monica, you won’t want to miss this year’s 4th annual Off the Hook Seafood Festival. Travel to the Santa Monica Pier on Saturday, October 6th at 4 pm (3 pm for VIP early entry) and help raise awareness for the sustainable seafood movement and funds for the Surfrider Foundation.

October is National Seafood Month, making this the perfect festival to attend with tastings from local restaurants and the city’s best chefs. Plus, this year’s festival is 100% plastic free! The festival will feature live bands, a beer garden, games, an oyster shucking contest, and more!

Tickets range in price starting at $50 for the Little Fish and the Big Fish (VIP) costing $75 – both ticket prices are for advance purchasing. You must be 21 years or older to buy tickets. The event will take place outdoors – rain or shine!

3. Coast: Open Streets Festival

Once you recover from your seafood coma from Seafood Fest, make your way over to the third annual COAST Open Streets Festival on Sunday, October 7th from 10 am to 4 pm. The festival is free to attend and a great way to check out the city of Santa Monica.

Explore two miles of car-free streets loaded with local shops, food, music, culture, and games to enjoy with friends or family.

4. Farmer’s Market Halloween

What better way to finish off your Fall holiday in Santa Monica than with a Halloween Farmer’s Market? This downtown farmer’s market holds an “all-you-can-carry” pumpkin patch. Carry as many pumpkins as you can and pay one price for them!

Decorate a pumpkin with the kiddos at the no-carve pumpkin event at the Main Street and Pico markets. Head home to carve your armload of pumpkins and get ready for a spooky holiday!
