Nestled between Los Angeles and the Pacific Ocean, Santa Monica is the jewel of the Southern California coastline.
If you’re planning a visit to the area, you won’t want to miss out on a visit to the Santa Monica Bay. Whether you’re looking to relax, shop, or surf, there’s truly something for everyone.
Here are a few of our favorite things to do in Santa Monica.
Spend a Day at Santa Monica Pier
There’s a reason the Santa Monica Pier is famous as a must-visit hotspot.
You don’t even have to leave the pier to have a full day of fun. Pacific Park is a small amusement park located right next to the ocean, complete with a roller coaster, Ferris wheel, and more. There’s also a carousel located separately on the pier.
While you’re there, be sure to check out the Santa Monica Pier Aquarium. It’s a kid-friendly, hands-on display of Pacific sea creatures. Kids under twelve are free, and adult admission is just five dollars.
Enjoy the Local Food
Looking for a bite to eat after the excitement?
You’ll find a ton of delicious food and drink options in the food court on the pier. You can also see us at Big Dean’s for one of our world famous burgers. Check out our menu, and come say hello.
Lounge on Santa Monica Beach
Looking to spend the day with your toes in the sand?
Hanging out at the beach is one of the most popular things to do in Santa Monica, and it’s no wonder. At three and a half miles long, there’s plenty of room for everyone.
Make it a uniquely Santa Monica experience by checking out the original Muscle Beach. It’s the legendary fitness spot frequented by bodybuilders throughout the twentieth century.
Shop at the Third Street Promenade
If shopping and people-watching is your thing, you’ll love the Third Street Promenade.
This four-block pedestrian-only area is a great place to spend a day of shopping and exploring the local atmosphere. Check out the shops, street food, and local musicians.
Bike or Skate Down the Strand
If you’re looking to get active while you’re visiting Santa Monica, there’s one spot that beats out the rest. It’s called the Marvin Braude Beach Trail, but locals know it as the Strand.
The twenty-two-mile paved path is an ideal spot for an oceanside bike ride or rollerblade excursion. Hit one of the many rental shops on the pier to borrow equipment for the day.
Take a Surfing Lesson
Santa Monica is known for its sun and surf.
Take advantage even if you don’t know how to ride the waves yet. Surfing instructors and surfing schools are available to teach aspiring surfers of every level.
Don’t have a board? No problem. Hit up one of the many rental shops.
Have a Few Laughs
Santa Monica is home to M.I.’s Westside Comedy, one of the most popular comedy clubs in California.
Check out their schedule to see what’s scheduled during your visit. You won’t be disappointed.
